Did you know that after forgiveness of sins comes instruction? When we confess our sins the Lord is faithful and just to forgive us, and ‘then’ cleanse us from all unrighteousness from inside to outside (that is, from heart to conduct).
Jesus said, we are clean through the word He has spoken unto us (John 15:3). The word ‘clean’ refers to the literal and/or figurative of to be cleansed and pruned. The concept is from the branch that is ‘purged’ to bring forth more fruit (John 15:2).
If there is no word of correction after forgiveness, there is no cleansing (on the inside and outside) and no forgiveness. There is an exception—the “forgive them for they know not what they do,” request. Here, the cleansing will be on the outside to preserve those who will believeth on Jesus; they will repent and be baptized for the remission of sins…. The cleaning will be on both the inside and outside to prepare them to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost AND to live holy.
Remember, with the heart man believeth unto righteousness. Righteousness is unto holiness, and the fruit unto holiness has an end—everlasting life!
“Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.”
—Proverbs 4:13
