Hello, Friends. Did you know that the pain from hearing a lie is far greater than the pain from hearing the truth? That’s right, because the lie (from a liar by practice and character) generates the pain of torment that leads to wailing and gnashing of teeth for all lost souls sentenced to eternal judgment.
Revelation 22:15 says, “For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.”
These are the liars referred to in this exhortation — they loveth and maketh a lie!
In direct contrast, the pain from hearing (and receiving) truth will result in relief, freedom, and joy because those who believeth and beareth the truth hateth hearing and speaking lies:
“But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.” — Ephesians 4:15-16
Here’s more of what we have learned over the years about the effects of hearing a lie. When a person lies about someone we both know, the pain from the lie reaches deep into our soul and spirit … accompanied by the weight that presses down on the shoulders (so to speak) that causes much more pain and grief …and… it sickens the heart of a truth-bearer to hear the lie.
Truth be told, those with a pure heart of a truth will notice the weighted pressure of false words. On the contrary, the liar will feel a false sense of a temporary sigh of relief for the pain they caused the innocent hearer.
Here’s what Jesus said about liars … those who believe not the truth —
“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.” — John 8:44-47
Those who live by the truth love the truth … and HATE ALL LIES!
Proverbs 8:13 says, “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.”
The word “froward” here refers to being upside-down, perverse, and a fraud.
The word “fraud” means:
- deceit, trickery; specifically: intentional perversion of truth in order to induce another to part with something of value;
- a person who is not what he or she pretends to be: an imposter;
- one who makes false claims of identity;
- the inclination or practice of misleading others through lies or trickery.
The liar is deceitful — their feed is to mislead others; they belch out trickery … the practice of deception. The deceitful liar intentionally perverts (or distorts) truth in order to entice people to separate themselves from someone they highly regard.
The liar is an imposter — they pretend to be authentic but are frauds and strangers with foreign messages. They attempt to dispel their true identity when they make false claims of someone else’s identity in an effort to turn the focal point that they lied … into the false sense that they spoke the truth.
The liar is treacherous and misleads — because they are …evil men and seducers who shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. (2 Timothy 3:13). They fulfill the scripture in Proverbs 26:28, “A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.” We also know that, “Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.” — 1 John 3:15
The end of all liars will be the lake of fire and brimstone because they are liars by practice and character (Revelation 21:8).
So, which do you prefer … the lie or the truth? Which one gives you the greater joy? Which one causes you the greater pain?
Consider the following references:
- (1 Corinthians 13:4-7) Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
- (1 John 4:4-6) Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
- (Luke 6:22-23) Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake. Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.
- (1 Peter 2:19-21) For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God. For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps…
So again, which do you prefer? The lie or the truth?
‘Nough said!
