1 Corinthians 2:6-8, “Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.”
If no one is perfect then why did the Lord inspire Paul to write the above scripture? And, how can someone claim they are wise in the Lord and at the same time declare that no one is perfect?
Paul also wrote, God is able to make us wise unto salvation through faith in Him (2 Timothy 3:15); Jesus said, be perfect (Matthew 5:48). We are exhorted and commanded to be perfect.
By the way, the word “perfect” in scripture refers to our “aim and focus” meaning that the Lord expects us to attain this characteristic. Other words referring to being perfect are: maturity, adjustments, completeness, excellence, entire, whole(-some), faithful. If you want to be wise in the Lord … be perfect!
